The Social Experiment
For my honors thesis at the University of Colorado-Boulder, I took part in a participatory journalism project designed to illustrate that social media can be a space that fosters creativity and connection if a person learns how to use the platforms properly. In a series of twenty-four vlogs, I monitored and recorded my mental state, detailing my experience as a social media user; noticing my bad habits, observing which posts help me and which posts harm me, how posting pictures of myself affects my self-esteem, how my emotions affected what I posted, and which platform suits me the most. The website also includes a detailed literature review that summarizes the research that grounded this project. Click here to view the capstone.

The Shrinking Sport of Figure Skating
My journalism capstone for CU News Corps provided me the opportunity to immerse myself in a single project and then produce an in-depth text and multimedia-based investigative story for publication in professional media. My partner and I spent several weeks studying the subject of eating disorders in professional athletics, particularly Olympic figure skating, before reporting and producing our story. Men in Makeup: A Commentary on Toxic Masculinity
For my media production capstone, I produced a film where five men sit down to get their makeup done as they engage in a conversation about self-care, toxic masculinity, gender norms, societal expectations, and their journey in exploring their identity. My film was featured in an in-person and online exhibition. Click here to view the online exhibition.
